Camping at Walker 'Pit'
The last weekend of July I was priviledged to be invited to go camping with my Son, Daughter
-in-law and Grandsons. The site we selected was one we had visited last labor Day and is not officially a camping site but a Corp of Engineers boat launch on the Snake River which makes for a barren but beautiful and primitive camping experience. (Yes primitive as in no facilities but nature.) I was the only one tent camping though so it wasn't as difficult as it could have been. It's actual designation is Walker HMU, I have no idea what the HMU stands for but the kids call it Walker pit.My sister, her husband and three children were there as well as my son's neighbor, his wife and two of his children. Dennis also happens to be my brother-in-law's new boss.
Here is my tent. I usually also have a screen house zipped to the front of it. In truth I am not really roughing it in my tent, I have all the comforts of home, especially with the screen house up. My sister-in-law makes fun of my 'mansion'. I admit, I sleep on a cot and have a tent heater for very cold desert nights, I usually perk my coffe over a propane stove and the kids bought me a beautiful rocking chair, very sturdy that folds up and goes into a bag just like any picnic chair, only large. The guys brought their ATV's with them, so there was a lot of riding going on. My son bought my older grandson an ATV for his 4th birthday. Grandpa is very nervous about it, I am not as bad. My son is able to set it so that it can not go over a certain speed and #1 grandson seems to be getting very good at it. Here he is riding past camp. I swear he wasn't going even as fast as he can ride his bicycle.
His younger brother idolizes him and wants to do everything he does so here he is sneaking and climbing on
to the parked bikes. He really thinks he got away with something. The other kids got to ride also. I was so happy that they did. My niece and nephews had never had the chance to do so before and they were having a great time as well.
Here is my niece Courtney. She is
a doll and as girly as they come but being the middle child with two brothers she can definitely hold her own with the boys.
Her two brothers got a chance to ride as well. I do not think I have a picture of Jacob the older one on one of the bikes but I have a great picture of him trying to wake up Saturday morning.

He has since had his hair cut, his Dad was a little tired of the hippie look, but here he is barely awake and tying his shoes. Jacob and his Mother, my sister are both my Godchildren. I have 5, it pleases me so much to have my family ask me to be so involved with their children.
Besides riding the bikes we played in the water and had a great bonfire. Dogs and people had a great time.

Looks like a good time was had by all. Such events create great memories. Cherish them.
