Creating a safer World/Video preface

This video was made for young people but it is a good preface for a future post.

Nondestructive testing is indeed in a crisis point. The job openings have already begun to outstrip applicants. The average age in my industry is over 54 years old. Almost everyone I know is talking about retirement, but much of that talk centers on how in the world can I in all good conscience retire with no one to take my place?

There is no way to overstate the importance of this industry. In the news we hear when there is a failure, but as with all other types of news we do not hear when things are going well.

98% or more of home owners are not in foreclosure. 94% of folks are employed, this is not 'news', nor are the same type of numbers for the percentage of bridges that do not fall down, the number of airplanes that do not fall out of the sky and the number of power plants that have not destroyed their neighborhoods just to name a few. A very few, actually the chances of a person going about a normal day without unknowingly being affected by NDT in some way is almost non-existant.

Since I work for Boeing, I'm well aware of non-destructive testing...but when the time comes to retire, I'll have no qualms about doing so.

Of course, I expect there'll be someone ready to take my place when that time comes...

When I worked for Piper Aircraft I installed some NDT facilities for them (along with a lot of other manufacturing capabilities). Ah, those were the good old days. I've been in the flavor and fragrance industry now for 20 years. It's OK, but not "fun".

(:D) Best regards...

Hi guys,
Thank you all for coming by.

Camo, I bet you are aware of NDT we are currently working with the group in Seattle on a development project for the dreamliner.
Hawkeye, as long as you have some fun when you are not at work.
Vortex, Thank-you and I will pass that hug on.
J
