Sounds like you had fun! Not here. Our town and several others in this area had to slash their budgets, cut salaries, etc. So they eliminated the fireworks and July the 4th celebrations from the budget. Maybe next year?

I believe that there may have been some cuts here as well, but we have stopped attending the city displays. We had a block party, it was great! The guys went over to one of the Indian reservations and got an excellent supply of almost full size mortar type devices, illegal of course, our display was quite a bit better than the official ones. As a matter of fact our whole neighborhood, many blocks all around us had apparently gone the same route. We were surrounded!! The police here are pretty cool. They only show up if there is a complaint and then they tend to wait unitl the display slows down and then wrist slaps ensue.
